Final Ministry Day in Omaha

Mission Omaha TeamThursday is finally here. We’re excited and sad all at the same time. We have all had a wonderful time working among the Omaha people, but we are also looking forward to being home with our families.

Today we are praying that some of the children who have been coming to Bible school make decisions for Christ. Three little girls at the Walthill club are really close and truly seeking. Pray that today might be the day that they give their hearts to Jesus.

The storage building is done and looks great. The team is going to have a dedication for it later this afternoon at our week’s closing service.

I must take a moment to brag on our team – especially our teens. They have all been awesome. This is the first trip I can remember taking with any church group where there has been so much group unity. Typically, tensions run high on trips like this when you live in such close conditions and minister about 19 hours per day. Normally by now I would be stopping fights and trying to help fix hurt relationships. Not this week! This team has stood side by side and served in love the whole week. Praise the Lord!

Keep praying for us especially as we start our drive home at around 5am tomorrow morning. We will be stopping in St. Louis tomorrow night for dinner and a tour of the Arch.

AWOL from Bible Club

We’ll it’s 4:05 central time and one of our teams was out rounding up kids for Bible Club when we came across a library in Walthill, NE (on the Omaha Reservation).  Guess what?  They have internet access…so I am able to blog this without having to use Chris’ blackberry mobile device.  Our students are vacuming and shelving books for the librarian in town as a way to do servant evangelism.  I am actually sitting here vacuming while our students are all over the library cleaning.  It’s a really small, one room library in a really small one street town (not too much bigger than Heath Spring – the Roberts family will understand that)

We’re doing great, but had to take Janna to the ER  a few hours ago for a hurt toe…she’s fine.  Tonight we have movie night for the kids and then we will have our final day of ministry on the reservation tomorrow before heading for home on Friday.

I better go before we miss to much Bible Club – we’re off to round up more children.

Carnival Night in Omaha

Carnival Night in MacyYesterday was our third full day on the reservation and we held our second day of Bible Clubs. Things went really great and one man, named Thomas Red Star, asked Christ to be his Savior and Lord.

We also held the Carnival last night. We had a rental company from South Dakota bring games and inflatables like bounce houses. Obviously, the kids and adults had a blast. Over 325 people played at the carnival, but more importantly, over 325 people heard the Gospel presented.

This morning we have taken half of our team over to the Winnebego Reservation for a short shopping break while the rest of the team cleans yards, makes crafts, and works on the construction. We’ll take them for their shopping trip tomorrow.

Keep praying for us!
