NYWC 2008 2.0

img_4817It’s Sunday afternoon and we’re finishing up our second full day here in Nashville.  The Titans may be loosing to the Jets, but it’s been a great day for youth workers at the conference…well, at least this youth pastor is loving it.  We began our day a little later than usual (worship didn’t start until 10am).  I got two more hours of sleep.  Wow.  Shane and Shane (picture here) led the music portion of the worship and a great pastor from England, Mike Pilavachi, brought God’s word for the day.  It was awesome.  Mike was Matt Redman’s youth pastor when Matt was a teenager.  We spent the last couple of hours learning about multi-sensory worship (see, taste, touch…).  All that talk of using our senses to aid in worship and learning made me hungry for a more aesthetic atmosphere…and some good food – so now I sit in Panera Bread writing this blog.  Hope everyone back at mside had a great day in worship and Bible study with the Lord.

NYWC 2008 1.0

Ashley and I are in Nashville for the National Youth Workers Convention. It’s been great so far. Yesterday we were blessed by great music from Mercy Me, a great message from Francis Chan, and a great worship experience with the David Crowder Band. I snapped this picture on my cell phone of David after the service. This morning I’m on my way way to a “praying the scriptures” experience and then into a full day of conferences and time hanging out with Ashley. Have a wonderful day in worship tomorrow.

NYWC Day 3

It’s noon and I’m sure everyone back home is rushing to Wades for lunch.  It’s not too different in Atlanta as I watch 5500 youth workers rush up three escalators from my vantage point at the digital lounge in the conference center.  The only difference between the two places is… I got the rare privilege of being led in worship by the David Crowder Band.  Wow!  They brought it and I was in awe of how God showed up in a “warehouse looking” convention center.

Students, I hope you had an awesome time at Morningside this morning.  Thanks Band and Bible Study leaders for being there to minister to our teenagers!

Ashley and I are heading out in the morning for home and look forward to seeing you all in church next week after Thanksgiving.  I will try to upload some the videos I have from our worship times hear soon.

p.s.  If any of you can help decorate the window downtown for Dickens this Tuesday – let me know.
