Veteran’s Day 2008

Today our family celebrated Veteran’s Day by attending the opening of the Florence Veteran’s Park in my old home town of Florence, SC.  My dad was honored today by having a tile with his picture and military service information displayed along with many other veterans on their Wall of Honor.  It was a great day of celebration and remembrance for the veterans and a great way to honor our dad.  He would have loved being their today.  I can only imagine the pride he would have felt and the joy he would have had seeing his grandchildren saying the pledge of allegiance to the American Flag.  May we never forget the sacrifice that the men and women of our armed forces have made – and are still making for our freedom.  Happy Veteran’s Day.

Veteran's Day 2008

We spent this weekend in Anderson at our homecoming.  Ashley and I made some of the best memories of our lives at Anderson College (now University).  It’s the reason why our first son’s name is Anderson.  It’s great to see Anderson growing, and continuing to help students mature both intellectually and spiritually.  It’s also great to see my own students from churches I serve or served now attending Anderson University.

A Good Hamburger

Today our staff went to lunch at Dolline’s restaurant.  It’s a small restaurant over in the community of Clifton here in Spartanburg County.  Our pastor, Dr. Kirk Neely, writes an annual Christmas story to present to the Morningside congregation and this year the setting for the story is in Clifton.  Today I had Dolline’s famous cheese burger.  Her burgers are so good, the’ve even been mentioned in the Sandlapper Magazine.  Next time you’re in Clifton – stop in for a great meal with some good folks.
