Heb. 1:1 – Jam. 3:12

As we draw to a close in our summer Bible reading we find ourselves in the last four days of scripture readings.  We’ve been in such an amazing journey in God’s Word from Genesis 1:1 to Revelation 22:21.

Today we read Hebrews.  Typically I have been reading each day in my paper Bible.  But today I decided to let YouVersion’s Bible App read it to me on my phone.  …I’m so glad I did!  Hearing the book of Hebrews read aloud is a powerful way to soak it in.  The book of Hebrews is a strong defense of faith in Jesus.  It’s like listening to a perfect sermon.  It all flows together as one powerful statement.  It’s originally written to the Jewish people to help them understand how Jesus is our great High Priest.  He is The One they have been waiting for.  God has made a new covenant by the sacrifice of Jesus once for all!

As we read these words today… This is my prayer for you, “Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts…” (Heb. 3:7-8)  Read The Word of the Lord and open your heart to His Holy Spirit.  Allow His Word to break in… “For the word of God is living and active.  Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing souls and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.” (Heb 4:12). And…”let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfector of our faith…” (Heb 12:2)
