Tree House Project: Day 2

Today Del and I started early with a great breakfast at Morningside Men and then started digging post holes for the huge 4×6 16ft long posts to help support the tree house.  After hours of digging and chopping at roots…we finished the post holes.  Today was a long twelve-hour day, but we finished the post holes, set the posts, bolted them to the frame, and poured the concrete.  Thanks to Del, Andy, Jack, Rebekah & Ken for your help today. Check out the up-to-date video of our progress over the past two days.

Tree House Project: Day 1

The boys and I have been planning a tree house for the backyard for some time, and today we started.  The plans were made, the lumber was delivered, and the main platform was installed.  With great help from some of our students and friends (JD, Jacob, Rebekah, Del, Andy, and Steve) day one was a great success.  After ten hours…I’m ready for rest until it all starts again in the morning for Tree House Project: Day 2.  Check back for more updates.

One of our great youth leaders at Morningside, Sherry Thornton, emailed me a bunch of great Christian comic strip images the other day.  Here’s my favorite.  I can imagine Anderson and Ellis asking me this question in a few years.  I pay tips all the time…tips to waiters, waitresses, and even to the ladies who cut my hair at Great Clips.  However, why is it that we as Christians often ask questions like, “should I pay 10% of my gross income or my net?” to the Lord (the maker of heaven and earth) and then not blink an eye paying a 15% or more tip to a service provider?  This child in the cartoon poses the question – as only a child could.
