Today’s been great!  We’ve got 41 students and chaperons here at Edisto for our first day of Spring Retreat.  It’s been raining all day, but the weather hasn’t dampened our spirits.  The trip down was uneventful, the burger’s were delicious and the opening service was great.  BJ Thornton tried his hand at playing djembe and Martha lee even helped lead the singing.  Imagine that.  It’s awesome to see the Lord growing these teenagers.  We’re winding down for the night after a guitar praise (Jesus rock-band style competition) and ready to sleep after a long day. Tomorrow is day two and were heading to Charleston for two worship services.  Keep praying for us and checking the blog.  We’ll update the blog again tomorrow night.

spartanburg-morningsid17bIt’s pouring rain as I write this blog and its supposed to rain tomorrow too.  Oh well, it’s still Spring Break and we’re still out of school and heading to the beach for Spring Retreat 2009.  Maybe the predictions of 70 degree’s and sunny will ring true for Sunday, Monday & Tuesday.  No matter the weather, this year’s youth retreat is going to be amazing.  We’re focusing on the topic of worship and we’re going to have a variety of times where we not only study worship, but also experience “giving worth” (worship) to the Living God…the King of Kings…& Lord of Lords.  If you’re a parent, prayer partner, or just interested in our trip – check back daily for blog updates about our adventures.

Big Boo Boo

Tonight Ellis had his first ER visit. As we were leaving his classroom tonight after church, he fell in the hallway and busted his forehead open when he hit a door frame. Honestly, it was hard to believe he was bleeding so much and I was in a little bit of shock. I just covered his head to stop the bleeding, got in the car and had a friend drive us to the hospital. We had a great doctor stitch him up (thanks Dr. Ross for helping us get a great surgeon on a sunday night). Ellis was such a good little boy and was very brave. I’m not sure how many stitches he has, but I would say about 10 or more. Were home now and ready for a few days that are less eventful than strep throat and busted heads. Here’s a picture from my cell phone of the cut after the bleeding stopped but before the stitches.
