Today is Saturday and we’re heading into our last Bible study time before going to the closing worship celebration. 2008 at Centrifuge has been wonderful and meaningful experience for all of our students. Some have made commitments to witness more at school this fall, some have rededicated their lives to Christ, and at least one is beginning to sense a call to do missions in the coming years. Thanks to everyone who has been back home praying for us. Your prayers are so welcome. The support from Morningside and the prayers of God’s people have made all the difference in the world. We will be home this afternoon and look forward to seeing you all Sunday in worship.
Today is Friday and our fourth full day of summer camp. Everything is going great and everyone is well and having a good time. More importantly, I really think that the spiritual aspects of this week are hitting home for our students. Last night we had another wonderful worship and church group time where they began fleshing out what it might look like to keep each other accountable and obedient to Christ.
The key passage of scripture that we studied in worship last night was 1 John 5:1-5. In this passage we are told that the thing that makes God feel loved the most by his children is our obedience. It goes on to say that obedience is not burdensome. One of the key things we learned last night about obeying God is not that it’s not hard to obey Him – but that we weren’t meant to live as islands trying to obey Him on our own. We’re part of the body of Christ that ought to be helping hold us accountable for what we do and say. Our students spent time last night trying to plan ways they could be more encouraging to one another, hold those accountable who tried to hurt the group, and how to more be welcoming to new students at the church.
It was a great night. This afternoon is Mega Relay – which will be a whole lot of fun, mess, and craziness. Tonight’s our final night and then we head home in the morning. Hopefully we will be home around lunch time (12:30pm). See you then!
Well, we are nearing the end of the week and things are going good. As you can tell from the picture, there are a ton of students here having a great week. We’re unfortunately down two of our campers. No one is hurt, it was just apparently not the week for these two teenagers to be at Ridgecrest (so they were sent home on the bus with our CentriKid campers this morning). The rest of the students are doing great and loving camp. Last night we had an amazing time in worship and in our church group time. During our church group time we spent about a hour praying for and with one another in a very special way. Each teenager had the opportunity to walk around and pray for every one individually. It was a good time for the students to encourage one another and build up the bride of Christ (the church).
Today is great not only because I’m at camp and students are growing in their walk with Christ – but it’s also my anniversary. Ashley and I have been married nine years today. She is so great and I can’t imagine spending the rest of my life with anyone else. She’s so understanding of the ministry that God has called us to do and is so willing to allow me to be here this week at camp rather than be with her on this special day. It won’t be that way though next year as we celebrate our 10th anniversary. Have a wonderful day Ashley, I love you.
