Tonight I had the privilage of having dinner with 30 volunteers from Morningside. Our youth volunteers are awesome. Each of you do so much for the youth of our church and I am grateful for your time, effort, and passion for young people. Some of you teach Sunday School and Discipleship; others serve on the committee; while still others plan meals, drive the bus, and lead in so many other ways. For all you do – thank you.

Often, ministry volunteers get overlooked for their time and effort – but always know that what you are doing is vital! You are helping communicate the Gospel of Jesus Christ to teenagers – and nothing could be more important.

I hope that you enjoyed dinner tonight at Fuddruckers and I hope you get to use the gift certificates to the movies soon. I’m only sorry our go-karts and miniature golf got rained out. I praise God for each of you daily and we couldn’t do Youth Ministry at Morningside without you!

I’m Full

Taco Bell’s most recent ad campaign uses the phrase “I’m Full”. Of course their talking about being full from eating cheap Mexican fast food that you might regret a few hours later. But the phrase “I’m full” has a totally different meaning for me.

In the gospel of John 10:10 – Jesus says that he came to give us life and life to the “full”. Recently I have been reminded of how full I am. God has blessed me with so many wonderful things. A great family, a great church, great volunteers, and great teenagers.

But one person stands out. My wife, Ashley is so awesome. We have been married for almost 8 years and we’ve know each other since 1992. With each passing year things just keep getting better. Lately I’m more aware of all she does. As I do daily ministry at Morningside, we have made the choice for her stay at home with boys. One might think that we’re giving up so much without two incomes, but it’s just the opposite. We would be giving up so much if we had two incomes. To be honest, I work far to much on a daily basis in ministry – but even in all that I do – she tops me all the time. Between the two of us – her job is far harder and is vital.

God has called Ashley and I to be the ones who raise Anderson and Ellis (and any future children) to know, love, and serve Him. Ashley is doing so much of this. She is with our boys 24/7 and gets little recognition for all she does. If it weren’t for her, I couldn’t even be writing this blog. Lately, the boys have been a little over the top with trying to get Anderson potty-trained and Ellis having ear infections and learning to walk.

I can’t begin to thank Ashley for all she does as a mom, as a wife, and as the main person who makes it possible for me to do ministry effectively at Morningside. I truly am blessed to have such a wonderful wife! I love you!

I truly am “full”! Living the full and abundant life that God promised is awesome!

Ellis Taking Steps

Ellis is starting to take some of his first steps and is getting pretty bold. He isn’t timid at all – he just starts walking wherever you let him go. Of course he falls often, but he’s trying. We got some video of it the other night at Ashley’s discipleship group. Check it out!
