What an amazing year this has been. Ashley and I celebrated our eleventh year of marriage and still loving every minute that God allows us to be together. The boys are growing like weeds and are now seven and four (almost five). Anderson started Cub Scouts this year, and they are both starting basketball this season too. God has also blessed us with wonderful staff and volunteers to serve with at Morningside. We’re grateful that the Lord allows us to serve at our church telling the Good News of Christ and ministering to youth and their families.
Merry Christmas from our family to yours!
Tomorrow we’re giving the youth at Morningside the second album from the Mside Band. This project includes six songs and involves ten musicians. It was recorded in the youth room at the church back in June of this year. The songs on this project include: “Happy Day,” “Hosanna,” No Sweeter Name,” “Everlasting God,” and “Jesus Paid It All.” In addition, Holly Bannan added one of her own songs, “Holy Are You God.” Holly Bannan, Andy McClure, Rick Hennecy, JD Weeks, Jacob Balmer, Janna McClure, Aaron Ross, Meredith Pheffer, Lee Lancaster and I were part of this year’s project. It’s titled “Side B” since it’s our second attempt at creating wonderful worship music. Our prayer is that these songs will glorify the Lord and help lead those who listen to Christ. Special thanks to Mckelvie Wilder with www.soundcloset.com for recording, editing and mixing this album. To God Be The Glory!
Though I love to learn new things about the God I love and the ministry He has called me too, I’m not an avid reader. Ashley, on the other hand, can read a book in a day. Despite my lack of reading, this week I finished my second book in three weeks. You would think that during this busy holiday time I would have less time to read, but this book captivated my attention. I kept wanting to go back to it again and again.
Radical is the new book by David Platt. Platt writes with a sincere conviction for the American church to return to the purpose for which Christ died for them. His passion for the lost and his heart for world missions is contagious. I’d highly recommend reading it. Be warned that if you do, be ready to be convicted by the Holy Spirit to step away from the American dream and into the dream God has for the world to hear the Good News. It’s an easy read – but hard to live. That’s what’s so great about it. I pray that God will continue stirring in me what he wants me to do with what He has taught me through David’s book.
