Fuge Day 2

It’s about 3:30pm on Wednesday at Centrifuge (at Ridgecrest). It’s been a long but wonderful day since my last blog. So far everything is going pretty well. I was really tired earlier today and just thought it was because I was getting old. Getting up Rec. Hill at 32 is harder that getting up Rec. Hill at 27. But then I realized that I hadn’t had any caffeine in over two days. It’s the drug of choice for this Baptist minister. I felt like an addict looking for a fix as I tracked down the closest soda machine this morning. Finally, at lunch I had a Diet Pepsi (though Diet Coke is much better) and everything with the world was right again.

This week’s lessons are excellent. Today we studied the parables of the mustard seed, the yeast, the priceless treasure, and the pearl from Matthew 13. The Kingdom of God is such an amazing thing. And how great is it that God allows us to join Him in what he’s doing. Tonight will be another great evening of worship – so be in prayer for the students that their hearts would be open to God’s Word.

I’ll blog again soon and hopefully attach a few pictures next time.

Fuge Day 1

Well, we’re here and doing great.  This is a much larger week that I expected.  For the past eight camps that I’ve attended – the largest group of campers I’ve seen is about 700.  This year, there are over 1700 teenagers and adult leaders here at Centrifuge.  In addition to that, there are over 500 children on campus for CentriKID (including our own mside kids).  Wow…that’s a lot of students…and a lot of hormones.

The first night was good and the message from the camp pastor was right on target. All of our students are doing well and learning the camp schedule.  Pray for us.  I’ll try to write more later…for now it’s off toe the Opening service for the morning.

Fuge Week

It’s here again – Cenrifuge Summer Camp.  One of my favorite weeks of the year.  It’s the week when our students join hundreds of other teenagers for a few days of amazing worship, Bible study, recreation, and awesome fun in the mountains of North Caroline at Ridgecrest Conference Center.  This is my fifth fuge and eighth summer camp that I’ve taken students to.  I pray that this week will be life-changing for both me and for the students who go with me.  I pray that God would refresh my heart, my passion for Him, and my passion for student ministry.  The only down side to this week is missing my wife and boys.  Especially since this week is my 9th anniversary of marriage.  June 19th, 1999 – Ashley and I committed to love one another no matter what – to raise our family to glorify God – and to follow the Lord sharing the good news of His kingdom.  Happy camping at Fuge – Happy Anniversary Ashley – I love you!
