NYWC Day 3

It’s noon and I’m sure everyone back home is rushing to Wades for lunch.  It’s not too different in Atlanta as I watch 5500 youth workers rush up three escalators from my vantage point at the digital lounge in the conference center.  The only difference between the two places is… I got the rare privilege of being led in worship by the David Crowder Band.  Wow!  They brought it and I was in awe of how God showed up in a “warehouse looking” convention center.

Students, I hope you had an awesome time at Morningside this morning.  Thanks Band and Bible Study leaders for being there to minister to our teenagers!

Ashley and I are heading out in the morning for home and look forward to seeing you all in church next week after Thanksgiving.  I will try to upload some the videos I have from our worship times hear soon.

p.s.  If any of you can help decorate the window downtown for Dickens this Tuesday – let me know.

NWYC Day 1

Yesterday was our first day at the National Youth Workers Convention in Atlanta, GA.  Ashley and I are having an awesome time and are grateful for Morningside for sending us here to learn, grow, spend needed time together and most importantly reconnect our souls with the heart of God in the midst of busy youth ministry and family lives.

We heard from Andy Stanley, Chap Clark, and a host of other great conference leaders yesterday and this morning we are about to be blessed by Chris Tomlin who I can hear warming up in the background right now.

Have a great weekend and worship at church tomorrow.

Veterans Day

At the grave of Pop WayneToday we celebrate the National Holiday – Veterans Day.  It’s an opportunity to thank those who have served and do servce in our Armed Forces protecting us and our freedoms in America.  How can we say thank you for their sacrifice?

While in Florence for a youth leadership meeting today we had the chance to go by the National Cemetery to see where my dad, Marion Wayne Neighbors is buried.  He died a few years ago and never got the chance to meet his grandchildren.  However, Anderson and Ellis call him “Pop” Wayne.  He was a Marine Veteran who served over 10 years in the military and two tours of duty in Vietnam in the heat of the War.  Among his many awards he earned the Purple Heart and Bronze Star.

We love and are proud of our Veterans – especially Pop Wayne!
