This past Tuesday we went to the Spartanburg Fair with some friends from church. The Emersons have three preschoolers. So the four adults and five children tackled the County Fair together. It was fun. Anderson loved the rides and all the other kids had fun too. Of course Ellis was too small and had to watch from the side line of his stroller. Wow, are rides expensive these days or what? I don’t think
we got out of the kiddy ride area for under $20 per kid. Oh well…it was fun and it was a great time together as a family. Here are some pics from the night. One of Anderson, Ashley and Caroline on the carousel and one of Ashley and Christy Emerson.
Well, I can’t let the day come to a close without writing about two of my favorite people. Today is the birthday of my beautiful wife and oldest son. Ashley and Anderson get to share their birthdays. Ashley is 29 and Anderson is 3 (It’s still safe to say Ashley’s age – I think). The day has been wonderful! We woke up singing the birthday song and then Anderson was off to preschool. Later in the morning we had a little party for Anderson with his class and it was great. Cookies and icing everywhere. After school we had lunch as a family at Ruby Tuesdays to celebrate and give mom her presents. Then, even though it was a church night Ashley and I got to go to a great movie (Facing the Giants) with the church. It was a church-wide event. We got to leave the boys with the nursery – but we traded the two of them for the 30-40 teenagers who went with us. We had over 125 at the movie. Overall it was an awesome day and I’m so grateful God has blessed me with Ashley, Anderson and Ellis.
As a Gamecock fan, it pains me to be in Clemson for game day. However, I took a group of guys from our church to the “Rally in the Valley” yesterday and it was great! The FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes) held its annual state rally for youth. We had 22 go and they all had a blast. It was great to spend time with each other (just being with the guys). We tailgated, went to the rally (worship service), and then went to the game. We left at the beginning of the
4th quarter after Clemson was up 51 – 0. I kid you not – in the time it took me to walk down to the concession stand, get a hot dog and get back up, Clemson had scored three touch downs. It was a great event and I loved my picture with one of our best Clemson fans (CJ Holcombe) who’s dad by the way works at Carolina. Ha Ha. Got to love family rivalry.
